Gatt High Eden Riesling 2010 Eden Valley South Australia 750mL ALC 12.3%VOL (screwcap closure)
authentic wine from classic Eden Valley High Eden terroir and varieties
James Halliday's review 1 October 2019: Glorious straw-green hue; is behaving like a 2-3yo riesling, not a 9yo. Crisp and dry, citrus blossom aromas and flavours are joined by green apple on the long and taut palate.
Appearance: Vibrant, pale yellow-green. Aroma / Bouquet Delicate aromatic fragrance of apple blossom and lemon.
Palate: Classic Eden Valley Riesling of refined and enduring style. Fragrant apple blossom aromatics open to a delicate palate brimming with fresh lemon flavour. Crisp and dry with bright citrus, floral and mineral tones. A wine of longevity and poise.
Serve: Chilled from 10-12°C Cellar Long term cellaring will reveal the renowned toasty characters of aged Eden Valley Riesling.
Peak drinking: 2015-2030.
Food pairing: Delicate flavours, spicy Asian and Thai style dishes, seafood and crustaceans. Oysters, whiting, snapper, lobster, prawns, crab, sashimi, seaweed salad. White wine, citrus and lemon sauces. Fresh curd cheese.
Vineyard: 100% Estate grown Riesling from Eden Springs Vineyard. Beautiful cool climate country at High Eden, the pinnacle of Barossa. Altitude 460-515m Season A warm, dry Spring and Summer season saw beautiful ripening in High Eden. A wave of warm sunny days and cool nights saw the good quality and generous fruit flavour development. Riesling shows excellent aromatic perfume, depth and gentle acid balance.
