The vineyard of Gerey-Chambertin boasts 500 hectares of Pinot Noir, extending across the northern part of Côte de Nuits, just 15 km from Dijon. It is renowned thanks to the work of the monks of Citeaux, who have looked after it over the past 1300 years. Situated at an altitude of 300 meters, this parcel extend across the middle of the village of Gevrey. Precisely located on the alluvial sediment of the Combe de Lavaux, it benefits from a complex geological structure, combining garland red silt on calcareous brown limestone soils.
After being handpicked, the grapes are then carefully sorted on a table. Their juice is fermented with wild yeast and then matured in casks for a period of 18 months.
Deep, dark intense red color, with refined aromas, evoking raspberries, licorice and black currant. The ample and silky tannins are underscored by pleasant acidity suggesting good aging potential.
