Powerful Merlot Riserva from the Lugano region

The story of the Pelossi winery began in 1987 with the planting of prime terraced vineyards in the municipality of Agra on Lake Lugano. In 2001, a winery was built in Sacha Pelossi's hometown. The trained oenologist has given the Lamone his unmistakable signature: The Riserva impresses with its power and superb aging potential – and clearly demonstrates why Cantina Pelossi deserves its place on GaultMillau's list of the 125 best Swiss wineries.

Origin
Tenuta Colle di San Zeno, located behind the village center of Lamone (north of Lugano).
Vineyard situated at an altitude of 380 meters. South-facing, very steep terrain with
shallow, sandy, and stony soil; acidic pH level. Vines with an average age
of 30 years.

Vinification/Viticulture
Vinified in the traditional Bordeaux style. Alcoholic fermentation with skin contact
lasting over twenty days in truncated conical oak vats from Bordeaux.
Malolactic fermentation followed by two years of aging in certified 225L
French Bordeaux barriques. 60–70% new oak, the remainder once-used barriques.

Color
Intense ruby red with violet hues.

Aroma
Intense and highly complex, with robust notes of ripe black berries. The extended
barrique aging allows the oak notes to complement the characteristics of the
Merlot grape without overpowering them.

Taste
Elegant and harmonious. Highly complex, well-structured, and very long-lasting.
The aromas derived from barrique aging are well-integrated, while the
varietal characteristics of the Merlot remain dominant.
